The Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches' Association is very saddened by the passing of longtime Maryand High School Coach, Clint Gosnell, MSLCA Hall of Fame, Class of 2012. Coach Gosnell was a very successful coach on the field winning several state championships at Arundel High School. More importantly, Coach Gosnell made a huge impact on his student-athletes off of the field while being an oustanding role model and building long lasting relationships with his players. Coach Gosnell will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Below is the announcement on Coach Gosnell's passing and including information on services and a celebration of his life:
Clinton E. Gosnell, 67, an 8 year resident of Baltimore and formerly of Ellicott City died on September 5, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center.
He was born on January 21, 1948 in Baltimore, MD to the late Clinton and Eileen Gosnell. Mr. Gosnell was raised in Pasadena, MD and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1966 where he played football and lacrosse. He went on to play lacrosse for Anne Arundel Community College and Towson University graduating in 1971 with a degree in physical education.
Mr. Gosnell taught physical education at various Anne Arundel County Public School over his 30 year career retiring from Arundel High School. He coached girls basketball, indoor track, Arundel varsity field hockey for 12 years, and mens lacrosse from 1977 until 2008. Coach Gosnell lead the Arundel Wildcats in 296 victories as well as several championships. He was also a counselor at the University of Maryland lacrosse camp and an assistant coach at the Wroxter School and Severna Park High School. Mr. Gosnell received the Bilderback Award in 2007 and was nominated to the Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches’ Assoc. Hall of Fame in 2012.
He was a member of Retired Teachers Association.
His hobbies included gardening, traveling and genealogy. He was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan.
Mr. Gosnell is survived by his devoted partner of many years, Teresa Moir, his brother Christopher D. Gosnell and his wife Phyllis of Advance, NC, his sister Donna L. Clark and her husband James of Westminster, and his beloved dog Frankie.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 19 from 5 to 9 PM at the Ravens Stadium in Baltimore South West Club Lounge. Gathering at 5 PM for cocktails and hors d' oeuvres, sharing memories of Clint at 6 PM followed by a buffet supper. Free parking in LOT N between Ostend and West Sts. Guest with mobility issues may be dropped off prior to parking. The South West Club Entrance is about three blocks from Lot N. Welcome to the Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches Association
The MSLCA is a volunteer organization of high school boy’s lacrosse coaches from throughout the state of Maryland whose purpose is to promote individual student-athletes and the high school boy’s lacrosse programs of Maryland. MSLCA promotes high school lacrosse through statewide polls and rankings, pre-season and post-season All-State Teams, Senior All-Star game and the Freestate Tryouts and games. The MSLCA also participates with The Kelly Foundation to honor the best players from throughout the state in the nominations and presentations of the Kelly Award given to the best individual player in the state as well as Division winners for each of the MPSSAA classifications and a North and South Private School winner. The MSLCA also recognizes the accomplishments of past high school coaches through the MSCLA Coaches Hall-of-Fame.
The MSLCA organizes and hosts the Freestate Tryouts which has become one of the best recruiting opportunities for high school lacrosse players. The Freestates have the best high school lacrosse players from throughout the state tryout for selection to the prestigious MSLCA Freestate Teams. The Freestate tryout process and games are one of the most heavily attended recruiting events in the nation.

MSLCA Coaches Dues:
All member schools are expected to pay dues. In order for a school to nominate players for the 2015 MSLCA FREESTATE Tryouts the school's dues must be paid for 2015. The FREESTATE NOMINATION PROCESS will open sometime between March 21st and March 30th. High School coaches will receive an email when the nomination process opens which will include the nomination password needed to nominate players. If you already receive MSLCA emails you are on the email list. If you are a high school coach and have not been receiving emails please email the MSLCA with your school and your contact info and you will be added to the list.
Dues will only be $25 per school this year.

You must be nominated by your high school coach in order to register. Each nominated player will receive a unique registration code via the email the coach provides. The fee for the tryouts is $130.00 per registrant.
